Just looking for inspiration!

In our culture that thrives on visual stimulation, we are constantly exposed to endless imagery. We scroll and search and feed into the algorithm. What begins as just a scroll on instagram or search for inspiration on Pinterest evolves into endless consumption. Platforms like Pinterest, Instagram, and Google promise to inspire and to creatively fuel, but often lead to a paradox: the more we see, the less we create.

The flood of imagery we see on the internet and in everyday life, overwhelms our creative process instead of fueling it. This project critiques the structures and psychological significance behind scrolling and digital inspiration-seeking. It reflects on this visual overwhelm. It is both a personal and structural critique: based on years of my own saved images and ‘inspiration’ boards, but made into a possibly shared experience of digital saturation. The website gets more glitchy and chaotic towards the end because of its endless visual input, representing this overwhelming feeling. It invites users to notice their own internet behaviour and it challenges the glorified narrative of endless inspiration.

As you scroll further, and the images move around more chaotically, the background also gets darker.

Process

I coded this website using Visual Studio Code. This experience sparked a big interest in creating more in and about the digital realm.

After iterating a lot; glitchier, more grid-like, wobblier versions, this website came out the best.
